Lin Dan

Lin Dan (Simplified Chinese: 林丹; pinyin: Lin Dan, born October 14, 1983 in Longyan (龙岩), Fujian province) is a men's singles badminton player from Fujian, the People's Republic of China. Lin is currently the most dominant singles player in the world stage, since 2004, he has been ranked number 1 in the world for two years, consistently winning many tournaments. As of October 2006, Lin Dan has regained his ranking as #1 in the world, after a short period of being ranked behind Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.

Lin Dan won the 2007 World Badminton Championships in men's singles, beating Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia in the final to become the 2nd player after Yang Yang to win the men's singles championship back to back, after taking the gold medal in the 2006 World Badminton Championships. Among the tournaments he has won are the All England Open (2004, 2006 & 2007), China Masters, and also assisting China in winning two Thomas Cup in year 2004 and 2006.

With the start of Year 2008, Lin Dan was not participating in Malaysia Super Series 2008, where the champion was won by Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia.

Lin Dan was able to make it to the final of Korea Super Series 2008 but failed to defend his championship against Lee Hyun Ii. In the final of Korea SS, Lin Dan was out of control and exchanging words with Korea singles coach Li Mao (Full Report).

In Thomas Cup 2008, Lin Dan has produced great performance for the China team and helping China to retained their 3rd Thomas Cup in a row. In all 5 matches played by Lin Dan in the Thomas Cup 2008, he only defeated to Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia in the Semi-Final, and Lin Dan grab the first point for China in the Final by defeating Park Sung Hwan from Korea.
