Dato Lee Chong Wei

Dato Lee Chong Wei was borned on 21st of October 1982 in Penang, Malaysia. His height is about 1.74M (5feett 8.5 inches) and his weight is about 60KG. He is right handed. His coach is Misbun Sidek and he is 1st for men's single in current world rank. I believe many may not know that in his early years, Datuk Lee Chong Wei favored basketball over any other sports. However, he eventually quit the game at the request of his mother, whom disapproved of him playing in outdoor courts due to the searing heat of the outdoor court. His passion for sports never faltered during this time and he soon discovered badminton at the age of 11 when his father brought him to the badminton hall. Attracting the attention of a local coach, the coach asked Lee’s father if he could take him as a student. After receiving the nod from his father, the coach began to train Lee after school. Chong Wei is indeed a true sports talent. He immediately picked up the game and spent hours training everyday in order to excel. Spotted by Misbun Sidek, he was drafted into the national squad when he was only seventeen years old. Since then, Lee Chong Wei worked hard and pushed himself to be a top notch player. Lee Chong Wei has won many international badminton titles in his career, including many Super Series titles. He won the silver medal in the 2008 Olympic Games, thus becoming the first Malaysian to reach the final of the men’s singles event and ending Malaysia’s Olympic medal drought since the 1996 Games. His great efforts have resulted in him being conferred with a “Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN)”, which carries the title Datuk Lee is the world number one singles player now.
